BOTOX is often considered a preventative anti-aging treatment even if static wrinkles have not yet formed—keep in mind how often you find yourself making facial expressions. It is an effective noninvasive solution if you have obvious forehead wrinkles or frown lines between the brows. It is also a solution for crow’s feet around the eyes. If you experience more severe and deeper lines, a combination of BOTOX and a filler may be a better option. Procedure Technique
BOTOX injectable treatments are completed as an outpatient procedure at the MODERN Plastic Surgery & Medspa. If it is your first time visiting our office in New Orleans or Metairie, LA, to get BOTOX, we commonly perform the treatment within the same day as your initial consultation with Dr. Walters. We will ask you to make a few expressions using your upper face, like frowning, squinting, smiling, and so on, to help us to determine the best location for your injections. Your face will be prepared, and BOTOX will be injected under the skin using a fine needle, followed by a cool compress to help reduce bruising, swelling, and discomfort. You can ask for a numbing cream to help make the procedure more comfortable, but it usually is not needed. BOTOX treatments typically take around 10 to 15 minutes, after which you may get back to your usual day with no required recovery period.
What To Expect
Following BOTOX injections, you can return to your usual schedule, although you should postpone strenuous activities like exercise for a minimum of a day. You should sleep with your head propped up for at least one night and avoid touching your face, which can accidentally spread the BOTOX to other areas. The injected sections of your face can become red, bruised, or swollen for a couple of days, but you should not have any long-lasting or serious side effects. In the majority of cases, it often takes around one week before the final results of BOTOX become visible. The results generally last 3 to 4 months. You can talk to your BOTOX injector about when to make a follow-up appointment to refresh your results.
